Review: Real Techniques Bold Metals

As soon as I saw the Real Techniques Bold Metals collection I knew I had to get my hands on them and it took me a while as I only wanted to buy the two I really wanted the most and sadly everytime I went to get it it was sold out but alas I did manage to get my hands on two finally and have been using them for a good month or so now and I am totally in love!

Being a huge fan already of the Real Techniques brushes I had real high hopes for these not only are they beautiful to look they are super soft and just scream luxury to me, They are a lot more pricey than the usual Real Techniques brushes and i'm not usually one to spend on high end luxury brushes but as I do love my real techniques I could justify spending that sort of money as I was pretty sure that I would not be dissapointed.

The two brushes I wanted to try first were the tapered blush brush 300 and the oval shadow brush 200, The one thing I was unsure about was whether they would feel heavy but they are actually quite light and have a weighted end for in hand balance and better control, The actual design and shape of the handle is to stop it rolling of surfaces which I loved as I find my other brushes always roll off my dressing table. The bristles are individually tapered and synthetic and are so soft they just glide on your skin and feel so gentle when your applying makeup.

My brushes in the pictures do need washing but usually the ends are white so you can see how much product you have on them which I think is perfect for me especially with eyeshadow as I do tend to get a little heavy handed and it lets me see how much I have actually picked up before I apply it to my face. The synthetic tips make them great at picking up product and to gradually build up a flawless finish.

I don't think I can even express how much I love these brushes they really are fantastic and make what ever product I apply to my face look flawless and are definitely worth paying that bit extra not only for the results they give but for how they look too and I will definitely invest in the rest of the collection and can't wait to try more of them!

My favourite brow products: Maybelline Brow Products

When it comes to brow products i find it really hard to find a brow pencil that is similar to my hair shade as most blonde shades I've tried have an orange tone to them that looks awful on me so i need an ash toned colour, So i was very pleased when i tried the Maybelline brow satin duo pencil. The shade i got was Dark Blonde and it was a perfect shade for me as It matches my hair colour perfectly!

The Brow pencil duo has a retractable pencil one end and a sponge type applicator the other with a cream powder in the lid, I always use the pencil end to define the shape and the cream powder end to fill in any gaps or fine areas.

The texture of the pencil is waxy but just the right amount to not stick all the hairs together but to control and neaten the brows up, when using short strokes to make natural hair strokes it gives just the right amount of colour and it really gives a natural look to the brows which is what i like my brows to look like instead of a that dark harsh penciled in look.

After I've defined and filled in i use the Maybelline Brow Drama sculpting brow mascara in transparent to control any stray hairs and give a neat finished look.

The mascara is just a transparent gel thats very light and doesn't dry hard or crispy so it still leaves your brows looking natural.

If I'm having a no make up make up day then i just use the brow mascara and not the pencil to just neaten the brows up.

My routine is pretty simple i only like to keep my brows looking natural and not too bold so these two products really do work wonders for me, I'm not one for experimenting with brow products too much so now I've found the perfect colour pencil it will take a lot to get me to use something different.

Poundland Makeup : Make Up Gallery Feeling blush Blusher Review

As you may see from previous posts i am a fan of budget beauty product! And these Makeup Gallery blushers from poundland did not disappoint, I grabbed one on my usual little trip to poundland a few weeks ago and then after using it i had to go back and get them all. 

There are four different shades and they are all very different so there's definitely something for every skin tone and personal taste. The packaging is very impressive for the price they look more expensive than they are with the black minimal writing and i also love the clear lid so you can see the colour without having to look inside or on the back at the name. 

The colour pay off once on is great, They are very pigmented and last all day which you can't really ask for a lot more in a blusher. They apply really well and you can easily build them up for a bolder look or use a simple stroke for a more subtle flushed look, I  have tried previous budget powder blushes and they have been chalky and crumbly and don't look very natural on the skin so i was expecting  the same with these but they were completely the opposite they look very natural and blended fantastically on the skin. 

I use these nearly every day and would definitely say they are one of my new favourite budget beauty products!

Orchid organza : Pantone colour of the year inspired make up look

 

I'm not a huge fan of purple eye shadow as it can easily go wrong and look like you have two black eyes! So when I got the idea in my head to do a Pantone colour of the year make up look I was half expecting the post not to go up but as you can see it has and I'm really happy with what I created and that it didn't turn out like I had gone up against mike Tyson and lost! Haha!

 

So if you also like the look I created keep reading to find out how I achieved it.

 

 

 

 

On my eyes I used dainty doll eye shadow base and then taking a flat shader brush and taking the pink colour I've labelled "base colour" from BH cosmetics matte colour palette I put this all over my lid up to the crease, then taking the light purple colour I've labelled "lid colour" and another flat shader brush I applied this over the first colour. Next I took the colour I've labelled "outer corner" I put this darker purple on the outer corner of my eye and in the crease to create some definition, Also taking that darker purple and putting it under my lower lash line about three quarters of the way across. With a fluffy blending brush I took the colour I've labelled "blending colour" it is a light beige colour and blended from my crease up towards my brow bone to smooth out any harsh lines and to create a softer effect nearer the brow bone, so like I said it doesn't look like I have a black eye. Also taking that blending colour and blending the darker purple under my eye to create a smooth soft look.

 

Now for the eyeliner I used a felt tip from Be a bombshell in onyx and created a small wing then taking it all the way across my lid as close to the lashes as possible. I then curled my lashes with my Emite lash curler and applied mascara, I used the Rimmel scandaleyes in extreme black applying this to my top and bottom lashes and then putting on a pair of my favourite Eyelure eyelashes.

 

 

 

 

On my face I applied Rimmel Match perfection in the shade 200 soft beige with a Real techniques expert face brush and then used Maybeline 24hr super stay concealer in light under my eyes and on any blemishes then blended it with my Real techniques pointed foundation brush. For my contouring I used the bronzer in my Urban Decay flushed palette and put this in the hollows of my cheeks, my temples and jaw line then used the blusher from the flushed palette and applied this to the apples of my cheeks.

 

On my lips I first applied my EOS lip balm and then to add a little colour again sticking with the purple/lilac colour I used L'Oreal Glamshine stain splash in the shade cause 400 and the look was complete.

Cupids wings: classic valentines look

Hello! The day of love is slowly approaching and I was inspired by my favourite red lipstick from Bourjois called sweet kiss to do a valentines makeup look. As it's a very bright red I didn't want to go for much colour on the eye so I decided on a classic winged liner with a natural pink flushed cheek. So if you want to know how I created this look keep reading!

 

On my face

First I used Rimmel match perfection concealer in classic beige using this under my eyes and then taking it onto my lid to use as a primer. Over that using my Real techniques expert face brush I buffed match perfection foundation in soft beige on to my skin and then match perfection translucent  powder.

I used my Naked flushed palette bronzer to contour in the hollows of my cheeks and jaw line and then taking MAC coygirl blush I applied it to the apples of my cheeks just to give a light flushed look.

On my eyes

Using the light beige colour from my BH cosmetics 88 matte colour palette I've labelled "lid base" I put this all over my lid up to the crease then on top of this I used a darker beige from the same palette, I've labelled "lid colour" putting this over my lid again up to the crease and just making sure the two colours are blended together. Now taking a light brown colour I've labelled "crease" I'm using soft shoulder from Benefit I blended this into my crease. Then just going to the light beige colour again using this on the brow bone blending it all with a fluffy blending brush.

For the liner I used the one that came in my beauty kit from college It's just a black liquid liner so any liquid liner will work I know usually it's preference of what works best for you.

To do the wing I make a line going up from my bottom lash line and then a line going out from my top lash line then joining it up in a sharp point, Filling it in then in small stokes making a line along my top lash line towards the inner corner. I try not to keep touching it up till I apply my lashes as this usually makes the line thicker and thicker and before you know it half your eye is covered in the liquid liner! Next using my Emite lash curlers I curled my lashes and then applied 2 coats of my favourite Avon super shock mascara and last popped on my lashes which where the Eyelure pre-glued lashes.

 

 

 

On my lips

I lined my lips with Revlon colourstay lip liner in red and with a thin lip brush applied the Bourjois sweet kiss lipstick and went around my lips with the same Rimmel concealer I used under my eyes just to touch up any mistakes and to create a neater edge.

 

And voila your ready to go on your romantic valentines date!

Two looks one palette

Hi guys, I'm finally back blogging after a long time off! I've finally got my laptop fixed and I'm back with two eye looks from the Urban decay naked 2 palette. I'm a bit behind with the naked palettes as I got the naked 2 for Christmas just as the naked 3 came out but I thought I would still do a look with it as I'm sure many people still haven't got the naked 3like me. but the naked 3 is next on my wish list!

If you haven't got the naked 2 then similar colours in any other palette will work just as well.


      On the right eye a neutral everyday look and on the left eye a dark shimmery smokey eye.

 

 

On the left eye I used dainty doll eye shadow base 001 on my lid up to the crease then I used Rimmel glam eyes liquid eyeliner in 001 black glamour to make a line from my lower lash line up to the outer corner of my eye to determine how far I want the black to go. then taking the naked palette 2 I used Blackout with a flat shader brush and applied that to the outer corner of my eye to about quarter of the way across my eye and then made a thin line along the crease of my eye, then using a fluffy blending brush I blended it so there were no harsh lines. then using verve I blended this into the middle of my eye where the black ends and then using ydk on the inner corner of my eye and in the crease and then taking it down into the tear duct, using the fluffy blending brush again going over the crease and above moving in small circular motions just smoothing out any harsh lines. now taking black out again on a small angled brush I lined my lower lash line and then taking a Helen E loose shimmer powder in the number 18 I press this onto three quarters on f my eye starting at the inner corner, next I line my upper lash line with the same Rimmel liquid liner I used at the beginning. I then applied a few coats of Avon super shock mascara and eyelure pre-glued lashes.

 

 

 

 

On the right eye I used Dainty Doll eye shadow base 001 all over my lid and up to the brow bone then taking a flat shader brush I used booty call all over my lid up to the crease then taking tease and applying it to the outer corner of my eye and my crease and then blending that in with a fluffy blending brush, next I take pistol and blend that into the outer corner and along the lower lash line then using foxy to high light my brow bone and again going over with a fluffy blending brush in small circular motions just to blend out any harsh lines. now using a body shop eyeliner in the shade blue smoke I tight line my upper and lower lash line and apply a few coats of Avon super shock mascara.

fancy dress costume.. 1920s flapper

Hi!

It was one of my friends 18th birthday party on Friday and she had a pink themed fancy dress party which was also to raise money for breast cancer care. I originally wanted to dress up as a pink cupcake but the outfit had sold out in every fancy dress shop I tried so I decided to go as a flapper, I was so unsure about the outfit at first because it seemed so short and I hardly ever wear short dresses or skirts but one I was all ready and it felt OK and I wore a pair of skin colour tights so I felt more covered up.

The dress, gloves and headband are from a local fancy dress shop but I'll pop a link at the bottom of a couple of fancy dress shops that stock it.

The bracelets are from Primark and the necklace is florence and fred from Tesco.

I choose to go for a smokey eye but keeping it just on my top lid a bright pink lip and a pink blush. I was going to try and recreate a 20s make up look but didn't want to look to dramatic as the dress was really the statement.
